WATSONVILLE
This south Santa Cruz County region is rich with options for fun and exploration. Strawberry fields, flower nurseries, apple orchards and deep green row crops thread through the ebony soil from hills to sea. A great quantity of strawberries, olallieberries, apples, lettuce, brussels sprouts, and colorful flowers are shipped around the world.
Between the foothills and the sea, the charming city of Watsonville is adorned with historic Victorian homes and late 1880s storefronts line the main street. Watsonville Plaza, in the heart of town, has long served as a central gathering place.
For those who like their accommodations to have a beach view, you can choose the private condominiums at Pajaro Dunes, a collection of comfortable beach homes and condos with a clubhouse and restaurant.
Private aircraft are welcome in the Watsonville airport. This is the only airport in Santa Cruz County, and is host for the Antique Aircraft Fly-In, which is held every Memorial Day.
