McCall & Surrounding Areas
PAYETTE RIVER & BOISE MOUNTAINS:
North on Highway 55 from Eagle is a gorgeous drive up the Payette River Scenic Byway. Passing through Horseshoe Bend you will find yourself surrounded by lofty peaks and the frothing Payette River. Furthermore, this beautiful route is the gateway to a myriad of outdoor activities such as hiking, camping, mountain biking, hunting, fishing, whitewater rafting and kayaking to name a few.
CASCADE:
As you emerge from along the river you will find your next destination, the city of Cascade. It is located along the southern portion of Lake Cascade. This small former logging town boasts a golf course, whitewater park, fishing and all avenues of watersport activities.
TAMARACK SKI RESORT:
Heading North along the east side of the lake you can see Tamarack Ski Resort to the west. This four-season resort features downhill skiing, snowboarding, Nordic skiing, and snowshoeing with 2,800 feet of vertical on 2,000 mountain acres. Moreover, several restaurants and lodging avenues line the base of the slopes to offer ski-in/ski-out opportunities. During the spring and summer months enjoy mountain biking, ziplining, hiking, concerts, fishing and all manners of water activities from the affiliated marina. Finally, an 18-hole championship golf course is set to complete construction and open in the summer of 2023.
DONNELLY:
The small town of Donnelly is located at the north end of Lake Cascade. There are both vacation and full-time residences throughout the city and along the lake. The quaint town features a gas station, a few restaurants, and shops. It is a beautiful 20-minute drive north through pastures and small locales to the city limits of McCall.
MCCALL:
Also known as “Little Tahoe”, Payette Lake in McCall is a naturally formed 392 ft lake which hosts year-round activity. McCall boasts all avenues of outdoor activity including restaurants, shopping and numerous festivals and concerts throughout the year. There is a 27-hole Municipal Golf course with residences surrounding it. The city has a Municipal airport with a 6,108-foot runway, two published GPS approaches and regularly services large turbine powered aircraft and business jets.
BRUNDAGE MOUNTAIN RESORT:
Brundage Mountain Resort in McCall has earned the reputation of having “the Best snow in Idaho™”. Here you will find skiing, snowboarding, guided SnowCat trips, guided snowmobile tours and snowmobile rentals. Additionally, in warmer months they feature hiking trails, scenic chairlift rides, disc golf, concerts and dining. This established resort is set to see expansion soon to include ski in/ski out lodging.
